Meet the team: Marie Harrison-Stradling

We’re pleased to introduce Marie Harrison-Stradling, Workflow Team Managerin the third of our ‘Meet the Team’ interview series.

  • Q: What does your role entail?

I joined Ochresoft as a Legal Software Trainer and Non-Practicing Solicitor in 2013, having previously worked in private practice, specialising in Private Client.  I was seeking a new challenge which would provide me with the opportunity to continue to stay close to the detail of the law, as well as allowing me to meet new people and build relationships with them.

I later joined the Ochresoft Product Team as a Legal and Compliance Analyst, which provided me with the opportunity to work in closer proximity to the product and have a greater influence in respect of the maintenance and enhancement of the workflows.

Earlier this year I was very pleased to accept a new role as Workflow Team Manager, where I am responsible for leading the team on a practical administrative level and in respect of the workflow products, which the team maintain, manage and enhance.

Responsibilities within the role are varied and there is no such thing as a ‘typical day’ as the team are constantly adapting and enhancing our workflows in response to changes in legal practice, legislation, customer feedback and consumer focus.  I do however find this variation very engaging and am pleased to be able to apply both my legal knowledge and experience from different areas of the business to the tasks and challenges that the role generates.

  • Q: When considering your career at Ochresoft, what are you most proud of?

Working at Ochresoft I am provided with excellent opportunities to challenge myself and drive my professional development and therefore I have been involved in several projects over the years, the results of which I have been very proud of.  I think however the theme which has featured within all of these projects, is the great satisfaction that I feel when I either hear feedback from our customers, or am able to witness first-hand, the real and tangible difference that our products can make to a legal professional’s working day.

When we can provide products and tools that allow our customers to minimise their risk, work more efficiently and provide their clients with excellent customer service, whilst practicing in what are often considered as the most stressful areas of legal practice, this is extremely satisfying.

I have personal experience of practicing in these areas and we are all aware of the long hours that legal professionals are known to work: if the work that myself and the team do can impact positively upon that time, then I take pride in that.

  • Q: What do you most enjoy about working at Ochresoft?

I work as part of a friendly, supportive, highly skilled team and this has always made it enjoyable.  I am also made to feel valued and intrinsic to the success of both the products and the customer experience.

  • Q: Tell us an interesting fact about yourself

That’s a tricky question! I can think of plenty which are not very exciting, however I’ve found from past experience that people have found it quite interesting that I had the pleasure of living next door to the (now) Duchess of Cambridge and her family during my childhood.  Needless to say, she has now moved to a larger property!
