Climate change is in issue that no-one can ignore, and sustainability credentials have become a matter that every law firm should consider. A large amount of carbon emissions are produced from everyday office life – from the energy used to power laptops and servers to heating and lighting, the impact quickly adds up over time. Recent studies from the eco experts highlights that a person’s carbon footprint in the UK, fluctuates between 5 tonnes and 12.7 tonnes of CO2 per year. For businesses where long hours and heavy reliance on technology are the norm, the environmental footprint can be significant.
By supporting international tree-planting charities, we can help to reverse the problem of trees being lost every year. Every pound raised goes towards reforestation projects in different regions across the globe.
Our tree-planting initiative
We’re committed to making a meaningful contribution to a more sustainable future. Over the past few years, we’ve supported several tree-planting initiatives aimed at restoring natural habitats and reducing carbon emissions. Most recently, in September, we helped plant 102 Pinus trees as part of the Boreal Forest Habitat Restoration project in Canada – an effort that offsets approximately 5,100 kg of CO₂ over the lifetime of the trees.
The graph below shows how tree-planting efforts have grown over time, along with the increasing amount of carbon being captured. From our early steps to where we are today, the progress has been encouraging. We remain dedicated to supporting projects that help revive ecosystems, promote wildlife diversity, and combat climate change.
